• To stimulate an increase in production and improvement in the quality of food-crops, Livestock exports, and industrial crops through the application of modern production technology.
  • To facilitate payment of Pension for retired Civil/Public servants and gratuities
  • To initiate and improve rural institutions that will accelerate the tempo of agricultural development.
  • To mobilize the people for mass production of food by providing rural infrastructure thereby encouraging rural development.
  • To provide the necessary training for and supply at a subsidized cost the major farm inputs required by farmers
  • To ensure good health for the livestock population in the State by diagnosing and treating livestock and prevention of livestock diseases by inoculations against specific livestock disease
  • To ensure that meat and meat production are safe for human consumption.
  • To test, investigate, adapt, and develop new machinery in respect of land clearing, cultivation, drying, storage, and farm structure.
  • To motivate, stimulate, and educate the private sector in the optimum utilization and production of our non-extractive natural resources of the State.
  • To maintain orderly exploitation and development of the State’s forest and to ensure continuous and adequate use of forest products and protection of the State’s environment.
  • To protect, develop, and manage wildlife.
  • To control pests, supervise storage, and ensure proper grading of produce to bring about maximum returns to farmers.
  • To demonstrate research findings in a participatory approach with farmers on farmers’ fields for adaptation and adoption.
  • To expose processors to value chain products of relevant agricultural farm produce.
  • To introduce new crops to the farmers to facilitate new products and new markets.
  • To facilitate the establishment of germplasm of improved varieties of crops especially cassava where farmers can collect planting materials on an annual basis.
  • To multiply foundation seeds and seedling of crops like maize, soybeans, Cowpea, Cocoa, Oil palm, Cashew, Gmelina, teak, etc. For planting.
  • To expose Secondary School Students to agricultural practices as viable agribusiness.
