Oyo Empowers Farmers with Soil Test Kits for Germination
Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Adeniyi Adebisi, has empowered Farmers Association with soil test kits to aid plant germination and avoid retarded growth.
The kits would help detect plant nutrients with diagnosis of missing nutrient and adequate fertilizer to be applied to such plant as stated by Adebisi during the programme held at the Ministry’s conference room in Ibadan.
The Oyo Commissioner explained that the exercise in collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science stemmed from the recent training programme conducted on 26th May, 2022 and well attended by people including a staff of the Ministry and a Farmer who are expected to equip other farmers with adequate skills and knowledge of the kits usage.
Farmers to be trained from the soil test kits are to be drawn from the Farmers Association whose members were implored to utilize the training maximally for their various enterprises and overall development of Oyo State.
According to the Commissioner, âIt is my pleasure to welcome you all to this special occasion of Soil Test Kits to five farmers in Oyo Stateâ.
âFirstly, I want to express Oyo State Government appreciations to the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science, (NISS), for the donation of the Soil Test Kits and their recent collaborations with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Developmentâ.
âThe Soil Test Kits that are to be given out today can be used on the field to detect plants, nutrients or diagnose the nutrient that is missing in the soil and appropriate fertilizer to applyâ.
âTwo People, (a staff of the Ministry and a farmer) attended a Train-The-Trainer Workshop in the use of Soil Test Kit for Efficient Fertilizer use in South Western Nigeria on May 26th 2022â.
âThe two trainers are expected to train group of five Farmers Associations at the respective Costâ.
Adeniyi Adebisi thereafter congratulated members of the five farmers Association selected to benefit from the Soil Test Kits empowerment who all promised to utilize the empowerment judiciously for the betterment of all.
